Tom Poland: Hello everyone a very warm welcome to Marketing the Invisible. My Name is Tom Poland. I am beaming out to from the sunshine, a Little Castaways Beach on the sand next to the waves and I’m joined today by Mark Guberti.

Tom Poland: Mark, where are you hanging out man?

Marc Guberti: I’m in New York.

Tom Poland: New York City the busiest, the biggest city in the world which is appropriate because Mark is one of the busiest men on the planet.

Tom Poland: What he is not organizing is not worth talking about. It’s quite extraordinary. I don’t know when you sleep if you sleep. But what you’re doing is pretty amazing work.

Tom Poland: So for those who don’t know Mark, he’s a content marketing expert. He’s the host Breakthrough Success Podcast. He’s an influencer with over half a million social media followers. Author of more than 20 books, some of which I’ve purchased Mark including one on preorder. Thank you. Such as content marketing secrets, podcast domination, write and grow rich, and many more.

Tom Poland: One of the things I love about Mark’s books is that they are simple, succinct and you can get through them as you know in an evening and extract the sort of value that you might expect from something more the size of war and peace. But in more bite-sized chunks. We’re talking with someone here who really walks the talk. And who’s not just been there and done it but as is there and doing it.

Tom Poland: Our title today, Mark is, How to Attract Clients with Content Marketing. We going to do that and just seven minutes. Our time starts now. Question number 1,who is your ideal client?

Marc Guberti: My ideal client consists of anyone who wants to grow their online business spread their message and they want to use things like content marketing and social media marketing to be able to spread their message. That is who my ideal client is.

Tom Poland: And question 2, what’s the problem you solve for them?

Marc Guberti: The problem that I solve my clients is they have this message, they have this brands, and they have this product they’re trying to get more awareness around it. How exactly do I attract an audience? Do I get customers my way online? And that’s the problem that I solve.

Tom Poland: Thank you. Question 3, just over six minutes left. So someone’s got a great service or product, they’ve got to think they got a brand that looked like the world’s best-kept secret. So what are some of the symptoms they’re going to be experiencing because they haven’t got the content marketing in?

Marc Guberti: These people are going to feel like they’re not getting enough sales that they need to do to make the leap to full time. They may feel like they’re a little bit behind on some of the payments that they’re making if they have assistance. They may feel a little behind on all the content production they have to do and also like with that production they have to now stay on top of marketing so that sense of not having enough sales and staying behind on different tasks that you have to do to maintain and grow your brand.

Tom Poland: Wow. Okay. Thank you. Question number 4, five and a half minutes left. We’ve got this person with good quality product or service getting behind of things the bills are stacking up. They know there’s a better way, of feeling kind of overwhelmed possibly, they probably gonna to try some stuff that may not work before they discover you. So what are some of the common mistakes that people make when trying to solve this problem of getting known better through content marketing?

Marc Guberti: I think you hit on one of those problems like everyone’s trying to do all the different things under the sun. And you can’t work that way. You have to really focus on just a few different things instead of like having goals change each month based on like oh this thing and work saw to this instead. Stick with a few things for several months and being able to get those results so I would just look to just pick a few things that you were going to stick with instead of doing everything under the sun. That I believe the most common mistake is there are so many different things you could do with content marketing.

Tom Poland: So question 4A, just slip this one in here. What are the few things you are sticking to at the moment yourself?

Marc Guberti: Good question. I’m sticking to a lot more content creation so I’m going to be buying more blog post more videos more podcast episodes. I’m also sticking with building relationships because that’s been a really big part of the success that I’ve achieved. It’s all about building relationships and podcasting is such a great way to make those relationships happen.

Tom Poland: Absolutely perfect four minutes left, question number 5, One valuable Free Action that an audience member can implement that’s going to take them as a step closer to solving, cracking the nut of generating clients with content marketing, not going to fix the whole thing but as something they can do straight away?

Marc Guberti: Narrow your focus on the specific actions that row your email list because your email list is the most critical asset you have. You could be on social media, you could be on other places like you could be optimizing for search but an algorithm change could be the difference between having a massive audience and no one being able to see your content anymore.

Marc Guberti: So with all the things you’re doing because I know there are so many shiny objects think about how does this grow my email list? And every action should be focused on growing your email list and building the relationship over there.

Tom Poland: Question 5A. What’s one way that people can grow their email list as opposed to social media followers. Three minutes left.

Marc Guberti: I’d say one of the biggest ways to grow your email list has to do some joint venture days whether you and a bunch of experts team up to offer some books for free that’s normally paid, doing a virtual summit, or just some other kinds of collaboration like a joint webinar. I know that’s a tactic 1 but like 1A,1B,1C but I like being able to raise relationships and JV really matter.

Tom Poland: Thank you so much. So question 6, 2 minutes 40 left. What’s One Valuable Resource that you could direct people to that’s going to help them further with content marketing.

Marc Guberti: So if you wanted to learn more about content marketing I’ve organized the Content Marketing Success Summit as evergreen over 50 speakers have spoken at the summit we talk about content creation, marketing, social media marketing, and content monetization.

Marc Guberti: You’ll find a lot of awesome speakers with a lot of awesome insights and strategies to share.

Tom Poland: And URL is a www.contentmarketingsuccesssummit.com. Two minutes left you have overachieved your us a succinct in your interviews as you are in your books.

Tom Poland: Question 7, what’s the one question I should have asked you but I didn’t?

Marc Guberti: I think one of the questions and this is also a question we should ask ourselves. I ask myself this question, what should I do next to level up my game? And I think that comes down to putting in the work, yes. But also surrounding yourself with the best people because you are the average of the five people you spend most of your time with. Podcasting allows me to connect with people I normally wouldn’t have connected with but thinks about how are you going to level up. Be better than you were that day.

Tom Poland: Mark, thank you so much for your time.

Marc Guberti: My pleasure.
